Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. The awarding of the Nobel Prize to Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman is justly deserved and has all the more significance in that it takes place under conditions of a vast right-wing anti-science campaign. The decision that the UAW would not call a strike at Mack was no doubt made out of concern that a walkout there would lend fuel to the growing calls by Big Three workers for an all-out strike across the auto industry. If the UAW does not release the agreement immediately, that can only mean that they called off a strike before they even had a contract, for the sole purpose of preventing us from joining our brothers and sisters at the Big Three on the picket lines. Ford Chicago workers spoke from the picket lines, demanding an all-out strike to win what they're fighting for, including massive wage increases, COLA, pensions and more. The judge in the civil case has already ruled that Trump committed fraud in valuing real estate properties over many years. The question at issue is the impact of the fraud and the penalty. A long-time union bureaucrat and former Director for the Board of Governors of the Los Angeles branch of the Federal Reserve System, Butler is trusted agent of the financial oligrachy. The in-person and livestreamed meeting explained the geo-strategic and class-war considerations underpinning the Albanese government's promotion of the Voice and how the working class should respond. "I'm a supporter of the Active Boycott. I think it is a very good position because I do not see eye to eye with either side of the official Voice campaign." The territory Labor government is continuing to impose a punitive schools funding model based on attendance, not enrolment, creating a cycle of worsening literacy rates. Like far-right figures around the world, Braverman's broad political aim is to whip up a frenzied anti-immigration atmosphere to mobilise politically backward sections of the population as a battering ram against a growing movement of the working class. The widespread disgust towards the government's far-right agenda drove masses onto the streets in Poland, but the civic platform of former EU Council President Donald Tusk offers no alternative. An open letter signed by over 470 directors and actors conveyed the concern and anger of film artists over these developments. Due to record drought, saltwater from the Gulf is creeping up the Mississippi River and into Southeast Louisiana, threatening to overwhelm treatment facilities and cut off fresh water access to hundreds of thousands. Health workers occupied Chile's Health Ministry to protest impending job cuts while Air Canada pilots are demanding significant pay improvements in contract negotiations. This deepening social crisis is fuelling discontent with the Labor government, reflected in media opinion polls reporting collapsing support for the government, and correspondingly for its Voice referendum.
