Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. Israel's war on the Palestinians is provoking an eruption of outrage across the US, Europe, the Middle East and internationally. Fain said Friday that no new plants would be called out on strike and that he would visit Mack Trucks workers in Pennsylvania, who resoundingly rejected a sellout deal he recommended. Significantly, the summary makes no concrete points about staffing ratios at Kaiser facilities, one of the main demands of those on strike. Essentially, on the most critical questions the companies are offering nothing and the union feels that it is hard to sell this to a restive, angry membership, which is already mistrustful. These attacks on students who have voiced solidarity with the Palestinian people are aimed at intimidating and criminalizing the immense popular opposition to a crime by imperialism of historic proportions. This letter is an appeal to Harvard workers to take a stand against the McCarthyite campaign targeting students who expressed their opposition to Israel's attack on Gaza. Under a heavy police presence, thousands of demonstrators in midtown Manhattan on Friday protested the brutal attack of the Israeli state on the Palestinian people. With their omnipresent warmongering against the Palestinian insurgents, the media and official politics have created a climate that fuels and legitimises violence against immigrant youth. The violent attack on a pupil by a teacher at a Berlin school is a case in point. The on-the-spot reports laid bare the destructive impact of the "intervention" on the already shocking conditions of Aboriginal communities. In campaigning for its October 19 meeting "The war in Ukraine and how to stop it?", the IYSSE in Sri Lanka has spoken to students who are outraged at Israel's genocidal war against Palestinians in Gaza. Federal prosecutors have brought a superseding indictment against Senator Robert Menendez, Democrat from New Jersey, charging him with acting as an unregistered agent of the brutal regime of El-Sisi in Egypt between 2018 and 2022. The letter is a condemnation of the for-profit American healthcare system that exploits nurses, healthcare workers and patients. Since coming to power in 2022, Boric has been in sync with US talking points, railing against Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba for not meeting Washington's "democratic" standards, while aligning with the imperialist war drive against Russia. A total of 250 workers in the SEIU began walkouts on October 10 and 11. The California governor is ostentatiously shifting to the right in preparation for a presidential campaign either next year or in 2028. India: Haryana municipal sanitation workers continue indefinite walkout; Three-day national strike by Bangladeshi civil service teachers and administrative officers; Sri Lankan government doctors protest "deliberate" collapse of the health system; Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority workers strike over unsafe staffing. The keynote speech by Sir Keir Starmer to the Labour Party conference in Liverpool this week left no doubt that an incoming Labour government would only deepen the Conservative government's imposition of austerity and war.
