Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. Israel's bombing of a Christian hospital in Gaza City, killing over 500 people in an instant, is the latest atrocity in Israel's systematic campaign of genocide and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinians. Protests erupted internationally against this war crime, committed amidst new affirmations by President Biden and the leaders of the other NATO imperialist powers of full support for Israel's genocidal assault on Gaza. Over the coming days and weeks, the International Youth and Students for Social Equality in the US will be holding meetings on campuses across the country to discuss the way forward in the fight to put an end to the unfolding genocide. Artists and cultural workers have begun to give expression to the horror and disgust that tens of millions of others also feel. The vicious smear campaign against and blacklisting of students by billionaire CEOs, university administrators and state figures continue as mass opposition to Israel's war crimes mounts on university campuses across the United States. A New York City Palestinian teacher has been witch-hunted by the right-wing New York Post and Fox News for speaking out about the pro-Zionist information sent to teachers by the city's schools chancellor, David Banks, an appointee of the Democratic Mayor Eric Adams. Will Lehman concluded a successful tour of the Detroit area, ending it by visiting the picket lines of 3,700 striking casino workers on Tuesday. Workers at the Ford Rouge complex have formed a rank-and-flle committee and issued a statement calling for the expansion of the strike to all the Big Three auto companies. Washington is making clear that even as it promotes conflicts in the Middle East, there will be no let-up in the war drive to war against China. Deutsche Bahn (DB), the German state railroad company, wants to cut a further 1,800 jobs at its subsidiary DB Cargo to get out of the red. What this means in practice is already evident to railroad workers. Staff shortages and exploitation have reached drastic proportions. Ali Ceyhan was killed while working on rail tracks on September 11. He died of serious head injuries. His partner is demanding justice and that the circumstances of his tragic death are clarified. Goodman's column is the clearest exposition of a broad swathe of opinion in the ruling class in Britain—on display in the parliamentary debate on Israel-Palestine on Monday—and internationally, where protests have been banned and brutalised. The fact that workers are being made to vote on a contract which they have not even seen is proof that it falls far below their demands. An OSHA investigation into the explosion at the R.M. Palmer plant in Reading, Pennsylvania, found the company violated basic safety rules. The resolution was aimed at intimidating social opposition to conditions of oppression and exploitation in both Palestine and Chicago itself. The Voice voting patterns demonstrate the intensifying hostility of working-class people to the entire political establishment. The student union and management tried to prevent the speakout from going ahead, under conditions of broader censorship of anti-war opposition. "The government is talking about giving Aboriginal people their rights back, but when the Palestinian people demand their rights, they are denounced as terrorists." To guard against future betrayals and ensure workers' health and safety, workers must build rank-and-file committees. Lives are at stake, and workers cannot trust the union to protect them. Last week's article on the results of the latest route evaluations at the United States Post Service received a wide response from rural letter carriers. In order to successfully organize the fight against global corporations like Renault Nissan, workers need a global strategy and new organizations of struggle to link up with auto and other workers across India and internationally. News reports and studies show that student loan repayment amounts have been miscalculated for millions of borrowers who enrolled in Biden's SAVE income-driven repayment plan. The meeting on Saturday November 18 at 1.30pm will be addressed by David North, Chairman of the International Editorial Board of the World Socialist Web Site and National Chairman of the Socialist Equality Party in the United States.
