French President Emmanuel Macron's statement Monday that sending European troops to Ukraine is "not ruled out" shows that the NATO alliance has taken a decision for war with Russia. While the100,000 votes for "uncommitted" rather than Biden express popular outrage over the genocide in Gaza, Democrats promoting the campaign are trying to channel this sentiment behind the capitalist party of war and reaction. This article, which draws the political lessons of the 2014 far-right coup in Kiev, was submitted to the WSWS by a socialist from Ukraine living abroad. Last week, the works council and IG Metall union held a factory meeting in order to seal the closure of Ford's Saarlouis plant. The cuts at Macy's impact about 30 percent of its remaining stores and follow an announcement of 2,300 layoffs in January. Around 135 jobs will reportedly be lost at the the Western Region International Air Hub in southern California, one of UPS' largest air facilities in the country. Since last week, several hundred bus drivers, mechanics, utility, facility workers and clerks have been involved in the largest transit strike in the Washington D.C. region since 2019. In reality, the Delivering for America program is being used to eliminate tens of thousands of jobs, close thousands of post offices and redraw over 100,000 carrier routes. We warn students and workers that the FSP and IUSF are preparing another political disaster, just as they did during the April–July 2022 mass uprising against former President Rajapakse and his government. The surest sign Panorama's investigation would be a cover-up was the involvement of Dave Ward, General Secretary of the Communication Workers Union. Given the widespread support for Anderson, a leading Brexiteer, among Tory MPs and in the party ranks, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was careful not go too far—stating only that his comments were "wrong, unacceptable and ill-judged".
