Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. The WSWS calls for strikes and other protest actions by the working class in every country. We urge the organization of mass demonstrations in cities and emergency solidarity protests by college and high school students. Hours before Israel initiated a communications blackout of Gaza and poured troops across the border, the United States dropped dozens of bombs on what it called Iranian "proxies" in Syria as part of its escalating standoff with Tehran. Mass protests erupted around the world on Friday against the intensification of the Israeli military assault and genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. The centenary of the Turkish Republic, founded on 29 October 1923 under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, is being celebrated as the Israeli genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza threatens to escalate into war across the entire Middle East.
