 Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. This is the second part of a lecture given by David North in November 1993 at the University of Michigan on the origins of the Left Opposition. The escalating Israeli genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza has sparked massive demonstrations, involving millions of people, on every inhabited continent in the world. This was the largest anti-war demonstration in Britain since 2003, when over a million protested the illegal invasion of Iraq. Protests mobilising thousands took place in Salford, Leeds and Sheffield, just some of the mass demonstrations in cities throughout the UK. On Sunday, WSWS journalists spoke to pro-Palestinian protesters in Marseille and Paris opposed to the Israeli government's war on Gaza. This speech was given by Johannes Stern, editor of the German edition of the World Socialist Web Site, at the rally of the Socialist Equality Party (SGP) on October 21 at Hermannplatz in Berlin-Neukölln. "The reason they can do it is because they have weapons, they have money and they have power. But we also have power, because there are a hundred thousand times more people that are willing to stand up and say 'No!'" The Sri Lankan meeting unanimously adopted a resolution calling for a halt to the Netanyahu regime's war on Gaza and urging workers and youth to defend the Palestinian people. The central issue in the House political crisis is the demand by the military-intelligence apparatus, backed by the political establishment in both parties, for massive new outlays for the proxy war against Russia. Life expectancy in the US for those with and without a college degree has continued to widen over three decades. As the US escalates its build up for war against China, it grotesquely exaggerates the real balance of military forces to justify its own bellicose actions and provocations. Prior to his departure, Albanese declared he would lobby for the US Congress to pass Biden's $105 billion in military spending for the war by Israel, the Ukraine conflict and US aggression targeting China. La Botz brings his "Third Campism" to the current situation, piously ascribing blame to both the Zionist regime and Hamas for the violence in the Middle East. The license is aimed not at significantly increasing production, much less at resolving Venezuela's economic crisis, but at redirecting its cheap oil away from China and allowing US oil giants and a thin layer of the Venezuelan ruling elite to reach lucrative deals.
