In the aftermath of Syriza's debacle in the Greek elections on Sunday, pseudo-left groups internationally are engaged in a collective effort to cover-over their own criminal role in Syriza's betrayals, the better to prepare for new betrayals in the future. The protests also spread internationally, as Belgian police deployed water cannon against youth protesting in solidarity with Nahel's family in downtown Brussels. In a script repeated over and over again since the start of the Ukraine war in February 2022, the United States is moving to send a new set of weapons to Ukraine that it had previously ruled out. Two weeks after the Biden administration intervened on the West Coast docks to broker a tentative agreement, in response to a series of job actions conducted by rank-and-file workers in defiance of a union "no strike" agreement, tensions on the ports have not lessened. Workers had warned of the danger of a fire, but management took no preventive action that could have avoided the blaze. The power unions called the conference, not to fight privatisation but to urge workers to collaborate with management in a nationwide restructuring assault on their jobs and conditions. Berejiklian was not ousted for the reasons claimed by ICAC. Instead she was removed to clear the way for an even more rapid adoption of homicidal "let it rip" COVID policies. If the dispute is declared "intractable," the 60 maintenance engineers at Virgin Australia Regional Airlines will be stripped of the right to strike against real wage cuts proposed by the company. The central theme to emerge from a meeting of central bankers this week was that they are determined to increase interest rates further in the so-called "fight against inflation" because, while real wages are being cut, they have not gone down far enough. Detroit area Stellantis workers have responded powerfully to the statement issued by the Warren Truck Rank-and-File Committee calling for opposition to the imposition of "critical status," forcing workers onto brutal levels of mandatory overtime. In at least a dozen countries , teachers have carried out major strikes and protests over pay and conditions, in a harbinger of a wider eruption of the class struggle. The works council and the IG Metall have devoted themselves lock, stock and barrel to defending the interests of the Ford corporation and its owners. While it is unlikely to be heard until the autumn, the Tories intend to have their legislation in place, up to and including the UK leaving the European Convention on Human Rights if that is required.
