Even as it pursues war with Ukraine, American imperialism is girding itself for a violent confrontation with China, which it has identified as its principal strategic rival. The dumping of people off the government program that provides health insurance for low-income adults and children is a direct result of the Biden administration's ending of the COVID-19 public health emergency, which took effect May 11, 2023. Already being bled white militarily and demographically to weaken Russia, Ukraine faces the same fate economically at the hands of the US and European powers. High-ranking representatives of the state, the government and the Bundeswehr (armed forces) were given a platform in Nuremberg to oppose the prevailing anti-war sentiment and to convince the population to embrace the official course of war. Far-right forces have repeatedly demanded the annexation of the West Bank—as has Netanyahu himself—in defiance of international law, in pursuit of their aim of establishing a Jewish Supremacist state in both Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories. After nearly a year of working without a contract, dockworkers are being told to stop any slowdown on the ports since an undisclosed agreement has been reached. Stellantis has announced that Warren Truck in suburban Detroit and several other plants are being placed on "critical status," allowing management to impose a mandatory 12-hour, 7-day schedule. His works are so permeated with misanthropy and a hostility to human progress that his literary output represents a step back from the great American writers of the 20th century. While film and television writers remain determined to fight against the major studios, and in some cases, the capitalist system, union bureaucrats continue to preach a false "solidarity," while isolating striking workers from their class brothers and sisters. The ongoing persecution CPC workers, along with the victimisation of two Insurance General Employees Union officials is part of a wider crackdown on the working class by the Wickremesinghe government. The Pakistan government has complained that the IMF has repeatedly shifted the "goal posts" for it accessing the desperately needed bailout loan, despite it agreeing to and imposing the US-dominated agency's savage austerity diktats. For a decade, Victoria Police brazenly violated the most basic legal and democratic rights, using a criminal barrister as a secret informant. No one will be held to account. The basis of the ruling is that legal requirements for "equal pay for equal work" no longer apply when the trade unions negotiate worse treatment for temps than the permanent workforce. Far from providing sanctuary to immigrants, Democrats in Chicago and Illinois are attacking their rights and leaving them to languish in unsanitary conditions with little access to food while health care and housing assistance benefits are cut. IR's complaint that "the 'progressive' management of capitalism has gone very wrong" amounts to an exposure of this party's decade-long support for the anti-worker Podemos party. Italian airport workers hold national 24-hour strike over pay and conditions, grounding 3,000 flights; UK refuse workers' pay strike at Cumberland and Sandwell councils spreads to Hertfordshire and Selby; general strike in Iranian city of Saqqez to protest attempts to limit access to grave of Mahsa Amini, murdered by morality police; Nigerian unions suspend national fuel subsidy strike on empty promise of negotiating concessions If the turnout in the current ballot fails to reach the legal threshold, it will not be down to any lack of will to fight among nurses, but a massive vote of no confidence in Cullen and the bureaucracy she heads.
