The impoverished West African state of Niger is the latest flashpoint in the struggle by the imperialist powers for a redivision of the world. Even though Hawaii has the most sophisticated disaster alert system in the world, it was not activated as deadly wildfires swept through west Maui, driven by multiple impacts of global climate change. The number of suicides in 2022 reached nearly 50,000. Deaths among youth and young adults has risen more than 60 percent in the last two decades. The appointment gives US Attorney David Weiss expanded powers to potentially charge President Biden's son with corrupt business dealings and bring him to trial in the midst of the 2024 presidential election campaign. As it ramps up its commitment to a US-led war on China, the Labor government is adamant that any decision to go to war must be made entirely in secret, with no formal process required whatsoever. Opposition to the deal among health workers is broader than that reflected in the 42 percent "no" vote. This result was engineered by the union leadership, which adopted a "neutral" stance, tacitly endorsing the offer. "One can only conclude that the university is seeking to silence the only socialist and anti-war club on campus, with a long record of activity and meetings. This anti-democratic act must be opposed." Skyrocketing temperatures hit Ukraine this past week as the government of President Volodymyr Zelensky continues to push forward an obviously botched counteroffensive that has already claimed the lives of tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers. Despite generating tens of billions in revenue annually, Tyson has been laying off workers around the country. If acted upon, the D.C. councilman's demand for military deployment would mark the third time in just over three years in which the federal government has deployed troops into Washington D.C.
