Indications of new waves of COVID-19 infections are emerging in Britain this summer, fueled by new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus that causes the disease A wider political crisis is developing. There is growing distrust in the Voice project and the Labor government itself, especially in the working class. A hospital worker recently contacted the Health Workers Rank & File Committee to discuss cuts to staffing levels. France-based auto parts supplier Forvia, formerly Faurecia, is closing its Highland Park, Michigan, seating plant at the cost of 511 jobs in an "amicable" agreement with the UAW. Teachers in Chile are demanding unpaid bonuses and other demands presented to the Ministry of Education, while Dominican Republic health workers demand a resolution of the country's insurance crisis. Over 150 paper mill workers are continuing their strike over their company's two-tier wage system, agreed upon by the Teamsters in 2016. Two themes or moods seem to predominate: first, a general melancholy; second, the sense that the writer-director is overwhelmed by events.
