The more openly Benjamin Netanyahu's far-right regime is waging a genocidal campaign against the Palestinian population in Gaza, the more ruthlessly the German authorities are cracking down on any criticism of it. The World Socialist Web Site spoke with one of the 77 people arrested as part of the anti-democratic police crackdown on last Saturday's national Gaza protest in London. The widespread favorable media response to the pardon speaks to the enduring usefulness of Garvey's brand of identity politics to the powers that be. Three years after the "survival drama" phenomenon attracted millions of viewers' attention worldwide, Squid Game's second season struggles to build on the series' cracked foundation. The police have offered no evidence of any connection between recent arson and graffiti attacks and the mass opposition to the Australian government-backed Israeli genocide in Gaza. On his social media accounts and in a purported manifesto, the fascist shooter repeated the same anti-immigrant "Great Replacement Theory" politics promoted by the Republican Party, and large sections of the financial oligarchy.
