The response to Trump's return to power underscores a basic fact: the entire political establishment serves the same oligarchic interests that Trump represents. The Trump administration is publicly extending US support to the actual policy of the Netanyahu government, which is the ethnic cleansing and annexation of the entire territory of Palestine. The first wave of immigration-related executive orders issued by Donald Trump have now been published. With a few scribbles on paper and no involvement from Congress, Trump has undertaken a substantial transformation of the legal landscape in the United States, eviscerated the basic rights of a significant portion of the population and upended the lives of millions of people. Those who had their sentences commuted include the former leader of the Oath Keepers, Stewart Rhodes, and former Proud Boys Chairman Henry "Enrique" Tarrio. Both had been convicted of seditious conspiracy and still faced years in prison. The ruling elite's responses to Trump include unifying Europe under German leadership, making the continent militarily independent, and achieving greater profitability and competitiveness at the expense of the working class. As a rapidly developing Third World War engulfs the globe in flames, the Arctic and Arctic Ocean have become a major arena of conflict in the imperialist drive to re-divide the world. Workers from the Stellantis Kokomo Rank-and-File Committee sponsored a meeting to discuss the fight against job cuts and Trump's attack on immigrant workers. Fain has gone almost overnight from presenting himself as a so-called "militant," "democratic unionist" spouting slogans like "eat the rich" and denouncing Trump as a scab, to announcing his willingness to collaborate with the most right-wing government in US history. The film has done well at the global box office, but it has largely been overshadowed by events. Trump's visit to Los Angeles, praised by Governor Newsom, is a cynical slap in the fire victims' face from a president who has pledged to roll back more decades of environmental protection measures. The executive order calls on the attorney general to "take all appropriate action to seek the overruling of Supreme Court precedents that limit the authority of State and Federal governments to impose capital punishment." The IG Metall union and Works Council have been keeping the text of the new contract at Volkswagen secret. A review clause it contains enables the company to revisit the issues of maintaining production sites, wage levels and jobs. World Socialist Web Site reporters spoke to health workers across the sector about the crisis they face on the front line. At least some of the incidents appear designed to discredit Palestinian supporters and Muslims, while promoting actual antisemitism. The latest attack on Abdel-Fattah has been spearheaded by the Murdoch media, which has conducted a campaign of bullying and harassment against anti-genocide voices, slandering them as antisemitic. The ONA has not warned its members of the dangers posed by the threats of the Trump administration to undertake ICE raids in "sensitive areas," which historically have included hospitals. Together, with potential strikes by Safeway and Costco workers, grocery workers could launch one of the first major labor struggles under the new Trump administration. School development officers protested on Monday in front of the Colombo Fort railway station, demanding integration into the state teachers' service. Based on phoney claims of meeting greenhouse gas targets and securing "well-paid" jobs, the Albanese government is pouring billions more dollars into corporate handouts.
