Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. The announcement of a tentative agreement—one week before the deadline and only hours after talks restarted—has exposed the Teamsters' strike rhetoric as a massive bait-and-switch campaign. Climate scientists at World Weather Attribution reported Tuesday that the heat seen this month in the US and Europe would have been "virtually impossible" without the impact of human induced climate change and that extended heat waves are no longer rare thanks to continued carbon emissions. On Monday, the New York Times published a devastating report on the failure of Ukraine's counteroffensive. Then, the article's most stunning revelations were erased. The so-called "historic" and "game-changing" tentative agreement presented by the Teamsters, and praised by strike-breaking politicians, falls well short of UPS workers expectations. The profit report was released as 170,000 autoworkers in the US and Canada, including 55,000 GM workers, face a contract expiration in less than two months. The presence of Ocasio-Cortez and the AFL-CIO's Liz Shuler is an indication that the union leaderships, in communication with the Biden administration, are apprehensive about the joint strike action. Since being exposed for spreading anti-Semitic and anti-Chinese libels, Kennedy has appeared at a Republican-led House hearing and on Fox News to portray both himself and Trump as victims of government witch-hunting. Details about qualifying for the program and how much relief it will offer will not be available for months, while the Biden administration goes through the "negotiated rule-making process" mandated by the Higher Education Act of 1965. Five of the largest member companies of the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) experienced a 1,500 percent increase in profits between 2019 and 2022. During the same period, dockworkers' wages rose by less than 10 percent, a significant real-terms pay cut. The ILWU bureaucracy has made every effort to isolate dockworkers' struggles on both sides of the US-Canada border to prevent a joint strike that could effectively bring the North American and global supply chain to a halt. The ruling Workers Party (PT) tried to avoid the convening of the commission at all costs in order to hide the true extent of the plot to overthrow constitutional rule. Economic Activity of Public Bodies (Overseas Matters) Bill, Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions, BDS, Israel, Palestinians, Roger Waters, Jeremy Corbyn The entire interview clearly established that the Left Party is prepared to enter the government at any time and help implement its policies of war and social devestation. The Communications Workers Union, which covers only some of the affected workers, but has substantial membership in other parts of Telstra, is working to ensure there is no organised opposition to the latest round of job cuts. Many photographers, via their media managements and organisations such as World Press Photos, are being increasingly pressed into service to provide the sort of "embedded" photo journalism that conforms to the predatory war policy of the US and its NATO allies. The dispute's outcome has exposed the lie peddled by "activist" groups such as Postal Workers Say Vote No that the CWU leadership could be pressured to reverse their rotten agreement with the company.
