Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. The decision to send F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine is only the latest and most provocative in a series of moves by Washington aimed at escalating the war in Ukraine. In the barrage of propaganda over the supposed necessity to slash social programs to avert the nation's first-ever default on its debt obligations, nothing is said about the role of military spending in driving up the debt. Between 2019 and 2021, child and adolescent mortality rose by nearly 20 percent, driven primarily by violent deaths and deaths of despair.
