After a mass movement of workers and rural masses chased Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapakse from power last year, the Pakistani ruling class fears these protests could trigger a mass working class upsurge. Sri Lanka's corporate banks have reaped exorbitant profits while consecutive Colombo governments have placed the full burden of the economic crisis on workers and the rural masses. A lawsuit against JPMorgan Chase gives a window into the narrow, incestuous world of financial-state power. The ex-president did not make a defense in the lawsuit by E. Jean Carroll, effectively conceding the case despite his bluster on social media. The Biden administration is pressing forward with a regime of repression against what is expected to be a surge in migrants arriving at the US southern border as the Title 42 public health expulsions are lifted. Chicago's shelters and social services have been overwhelmed by the arrival of more than 8,100 migrants, many of whom were bused to the city by Republican governors suc The following is a statement by the rank-and-file Mack Trucks worker and candidate for UAW president in last year's election, calling on all autoworkers to come to the aid of striking auto battery workers in Toledo, Ohio. On Monday, the Washington Post reported that the UK's Ministry of Defence had issued a call to weapons manufacturers, on behalf of the International Fund for Ukraine, to supply missiles capable of striking Russian-annexed Crimea or cities deep inside Russia's borders. Early last week, the Bundeswehr (German armed forces) launched a "cross-media image campaign." Like earlier media campaigns, it glorifies militarism and nationalism, but this time aims even more openly to prepare the public for a new world war and to recruit the necessary cannon fodder. Twenty-six thousand troops from fourteen countries were assembled amid the escalation of war in Ukraine and the drawing of Finland and Sweden into NATO.
