Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. Far from pledging never to use nuclear weapons again, the imperialist cabal is accelerating the NATO conflict against Russia in Ukraine and the US-led war drive against China, which threaten to plunge the world into a nuclear holocaust. The WSWS spoke with Clarios workers at the company's European headquarters in Hanover, Germany about the strike in Ohio and its significance. The 285-day strike by Toledo AP Parts workers was the longest in the history of the city and bears important lessons for autoworkers today. On Friday, the White House announced its most reckless and dangerous escalation of US involvement in the war with Russia to date, declaring its support for sending nuclear-capable F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. The arrest of the highest judicial official in the country signals an intensifying struggle within the Ukrainian ruling class and a deepening crisis of the Zelensky regime. Biden signals readiness to impose social cuts, work requirements in debt limit deal with Republicans The "crisis talks" are part of a heavily stage-managed, bipartisan operation, including a manufactured default deadline, to enable "progressive" Democrats to cover for Biden and vote for massive cuts while concealing the corporate interests and imperialist war aims that are being served. The long-awaited report by Special Counsel John Durham demonstrates that the Democratic Party, the 2016 election campaign of Hillary Clinton and the FBI collaborated in concocting intelligence that Donald Trump was colluding with the Russian government. Shane Lamond, the former supervisor of the MPD intelligence division during the January 6 coup, exemplifies the support Trump's coup had and still retains within the police-intelligence apparatus. More rapidly than any recent government, the Labor administration has implemented a program of reaction all down the line, including escalating Australian involvement in US plans for war with China, an offensive on social spending and homicidal COVID policies. A senior constable fired his taser at the 157-centimetre, 43-kilogram woman, who was using a walking frame. She fell and was grievously injured. Educators expressed a strong desire to fight against deteriorating conditions, including spiraling class sizes, high turnover, poorly maintained infrastructure and inadequate COVID-19 safety measures. Supported by the trade unions and the pseudo-left Québec Solidaire, the CAQ's Bill 19 is a legal fig leaf for the growing exploitation of children by capitalist businesses, reviving one of the most retrograde elements of the Victorian era. The catastrophe is the latest in a spree of natural disasters in Italy now being made a regular fact of life by capitalism-driven climate change. It is an indictment of SYRIZA—the doyen of pseudo-left parties internationally—that despite a further four years in opposition, it is unable to offer anything to convince workers it would shape their lives for the better. The official opposition leaderships are determined to suppress any struggles against Lasso's measures by channeling them behind empty electoral promises. According to economist Ross Garnaut, interest rate hikes actually increase rather than decrease inflation because of changes in the structure of the Australian economy over the past several decades, above all the rise of monopolies which make their money not through productive activity but by the extraction of economic rents. With the contract for 340,000 UPS workers set to expire July 31, workers at the logistics giant are determined to win back decades of concessions given up to the company. The Committee of Interns and Residents announced a tentative agreement that will maintain poverty wages for its members at Jamaica and Flushing hospitals, who work as many as 80 hours per week. India: Tamil Nadu contract nurses protest; West Bengal public school teachers oppose poverty-level wages; Sri Lankan Inland Revenue Department workers strike over pay cut; Australia: Cleanaway waste collection workers New South Wales strike; NSW paramedics and patient transfer officers impose work bans. With space in barges and military sites still limited, the government is forcing them into substandard and unregulated accommodation.
