Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister wanted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court, has nominated US President Donald Trump, the author of a plan to ethnically cleanse Gaza, for the Nobel Peace Prize. The deployment of National Guard troops and federal agents in MacArthur Park exposes a growing strategy of domestic militarization aimed at suppressing immigrant and working class communities. A series of new and threatened injunctions, amid resumption of contract talks behind a wall of secrecy, suggest the city and AFSCME bureaucrats are moving to shut down the strike soon, without workers winning their demands. The changes, described by management as necessary for "efficiency," will extend delivery times for millions of residents, particularly in rural areas, as USPS seeks to eliminate trucking routes and consolidate processing operations to slash labor and transportation costs. The Liberal government, first under Justin Trudeau and now Mark Carney, has sat for more than a year on a 1,000-page report detailing the Canadian military's role in the torture and murder of persons detained, often falsely, as Taliban fighters. The attempt by the Erdoğan government to criminalise the CHP shows the extent of the ruling class's crisis, which is intensifying amid growing international and class tensions. Not only do the disinformation campaign and politicization of public health threaten the gains made over the last six decades, they threaten the entire international effort to control these preventable diseases. Tariffs on copper of 50 percent could be imposed as early as next month and a 200 percent impost on pharmaceuticals may be set within 18 months, with other commodities set to follow. In a further step toward war with China, the Trump administration announced Tuesday it would ban purchases of US farmland by Chinese nationals and other "adversaries." The WSWS is urging workers to take matters into their own hands and organize a rank-and-file committee to investigate this and other needless incidents at JFK8 and fight for workers' control over safety. Among the conditions striking workers described were dangerous levels of heat. Bob Vylan came to international prominence recently by courageously denouncing the mass murder in Gaza at the Glastonbury Festival. The Reserve Bank of Australia decision dashed the expectations of millions of working-class households of early relief from crushing home mortgage repayments. The deal marks a significant expansion of New Delhi's strategic build-up in the Indian Ocean region against China. Like their counterparts in North America, Italian Stellantis workers are facing a relentless attack on jobs and working conditions, which have led to workplace fatalities like the February 2024 death of Dominico Fatigati, a 52-year-old machine maintenance worker. Workers at Veolia's Lumley Street depot in Sheffield are marking the eleventh month of their strike with a "mega-picket" this Wednesday.
