As the United States begins the 250th year of its existence, it is in the throes of a political, social, intellectual and cultural counterrevolution. At least 600 Palestinians have been killed over the past five weeks at food distributions operated by the US and Israeli-backed "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation" (GHF), Gaza's government media office said this week. Numerous reports suggest strikers are either ignoring or skirting around the injunction limiting pickets to 8 people, while a standoff occurred Wednesday between police and strikers attempting to enforce the picket line at a trash drop-off site. The budget, which will force a 45 percent reduction in services, places the working class throughout the region on a collision course with the two-party system's budget cutting agenda. While the US government is scaling back its military aid to Ukraine, and even halting previously promised arms shipments, the German government is intensifying its military cooperation with Kiev. Wildfires are a global problem that requires a global solution. But as with other critical issues, capitalist governments are incapable of providing an international solution. By cutting international student enrolments, the Labor government is deliberately applying financial pressure to the universities, in order to restructure them to align with "national priorities" set out in last year's Universities Accord report. Over 5,000 job cuts across UK universities have been announced this year, with thousands more in the pipeline. But staff unions led by the UCU are blocking a united fightback. A Dana Ft.
