Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. The failure of critical infrastructure in the Libyan city of Derna that has claimed thousands of lives is the product of the 2011 NATO war in Libya. In a Facebook live event Wednesday evening, UAW President Shawn Fain said the Big Three have each rejected all the membership's most basic demands, but nevertheless ordered the vast majority of rank-and-file workers to stay at work and keep production going while only a select few plants go on strike. Ukraine carried out the largest strike on the Russian port of Sevastopol in Crimea since the start of the war Wednesday, severely damaging a warship and submarine in a combined strike using long-range missiles and remotely-piloted suicide boats. German imperialism is responding to the failed attempt at the G-20 summit to involve the developing countries more strongly in the NATO war offensive against Russia by expanding its war support for Ukraine. Formerly pacifists, the Greens are playing a key role in this. The pictures in the exhibition are in the worst tradition of imperialist atrocity propaganda with the aim of further escalating the war in Ukraine. The tour's main purpose is to prop up the faltering US war propaganda of the "unprovoked" invasion of Ukraine by the Putin regime, and advocate for more weapons for Ukraine, i.e., extension of the bloodbath. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have given the green light for the reformulated mRNA COVID boosters for those six months of age and older. Thomas was the deciding vote in the profoundly anti-democratic 2010 decision that opened the floodgates for corporations to purchase their preferred politicians and judges. Gurner said the unemployment rate must rise by 50 percent to hit the working class and change its "attitudes" and "arrogance" by bringing "pain" to the economy. The comments flowed from the very nature of the Voice referendum itself, which is mired in the reactionary politics of racialism on all sides. Britain's collaboration with the Chilean dictatorship continued in full knowledge of the atrocities being carried out by Pinochet's torturers and executioners. Not just schools but hospitals, social housing, university buildings—including student accommodation—airports, police stations, courts, shopping centres and concert venues are affected. Across the US, state legislatures have introduced dozens of bills that seek to enshrine "parental rights" in education. This article looks at the driving forces behind these bills and their chilling implications. In the struggle to end the oppression of Aboriginal people, the critical issue is the development of an independent political movement of the working class, directed against the entire political establishment, its program of war and austerity, and the capitalist system itself. The Wickremesinghe government has launched a vicious campaign against the drivers, describing the walkout as an act of "train terrorism." Film and television workers are determined to fight but must free themselves from the corporate-conciliatory strategy of the union. Less than two days before the contract expiration for 150,000 auto workers, more than one thousand UAW members at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan walked out on strike on Wednesday to demand an end to tiered pay structure, an increase in wages and benefits and the defense of their jobs. Some 3,000 Mack Trucks workers have expressed their overwhelming determination for a real fight to win their demands. In order to advance their struggle against the cuts at West Virginia University, students and faculty must draw the lessons of the AFT's sellout of the 2018 West Virginia teachers' strikes and its support for imperialist war abroad. By announcing Wednesday that the UAW will only call limited "stand up strikes" at a few plants even without a contract, UAW President Shawn Fain has admitted that the UAW bureaucracy is selling out the rank and file. In language reminiscent of the country's past dictatorships, President Yoon has denounced anti-government opposition as the result of "communist totalitarianism" influence and "anti-state forces." The vote has the potential to lead to a strike of some 85,000 strong, the largest strike of healthcare workers in US history.
