The standing ovation by the entire Canadian parliament for a member of the Waffen-SS has exposed the US-NATO war against Russia as a war of conquest in alliance with the most reactionary forces in the world. There are many signs of an impending deal with Ford but the UAW bureaucracy confronts immense rank-and-file opposition and could call out a few more plants Friday to bide for time. Workers at Ford have deluged Unifor officials with angry complaints, after learning that the union declared a sellout contract "ratified" in violation of a longstanding commitment that no Detroit Three contract would be adopted without the support of the majority of skilled trades workers. On Tuesday, thousands of workers gathered at the Thomas & Mack Center at UNLV to vote to strike major casino and resort operators, MGM, Caesars and Wynn/Encore. Since the new contract has gone into effect, the workers have been bumped up to $21.50 an hour, far less than the new top rate for air drivers of $36.69. In a blatantly undemocratic action aimed at forcing through a sellout agreement, the Writers Guild ordered its members to return work before they had even been given a chance to review and vote on the three year contract.
