The fraudulent charge of treason brought against Syrotiuk is aimed at intimidating and suppressing growing opposition among Ukrainian workers and youth to the imperialist-backed Zelensky regime and the escalating war against Russia. That the UAW is calling out only a single campus confirms the warnings made by the WSWS that the bureaucracy is doing everything it can to limit this struggle. The New York Times confirmed on Friday that NATO generals are openly discussing with their Ukrainian counterparts transferring high-level intelligence to Ukraine in order to facilitate strikes on Russian troops and bases deep within the country. The arrest of Igor Kolomoisky indicates a significant crisis within the Zelensky government as it slams the jail doors on its former backer and ally. The hearings this week featured devastating presentations of what the South African ambassador called the "continuing annihilation of the Palestinian people." Supported by the US and its EU allies, demonstrators in Georgia's capital city, Tbilisi, are demanding the reversal of a "foreign agents law" and accusing the ruling party of being Putin's "slave." Amid escalating economic turmoil and social discontent the French government is determined to tighten its grip on the strategically significant Pacific colony. The court's politically motivated ruling sentenced the leaders of the legal Kurdish nationalist party in Turkey to a total of 408 years in prison. Any historical appraisal of Bridges, the most notable Stalinist labor official in US history, raises important historical questions for workers today. While there is rising anger among doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers over stagnant pay and dangerous staffing shortages, the unions are keeping workers' struggles isolated and divided. Leipzig University management uses police and right-wing groups to suppress pro-Palestinian protests The "Palestine Campus" group explained that the impulse for the protest was the start of the Israeli army's murderous ground offensive against Rafah. North Rhine-Westphalia Interior Minister Herbert Reul has banned the group "Palestine Solidarity Duisburg" on the pretext of its alleged "antisemitism" and support for Hamas. Bangladeshi garment workers maintain sit-down protest over Gazipur factory closure; Sri Lankan government health workers walkout; Australia: Wilmar Sugar workers in Queensland strike again for pay rise; New Zealand nurses protest staff shortages. Student encampments against Israel's genocide in Gaza have spread to 25 universities in Britain. Labour's rail plan is not a programme of "renationalisation" but an effort to save a collapsed privatisation strategy and to safeguard the interests of British capitalism.
