On May 18, the SGP organised powerful rallies in Duisburg-Hamborn and Munich-Giesing, two working class districts of major German cities. The SGP candidates and members explained the party's programme and called upon workers to join the party. National 24-hour strikes of public sector workers in both Greece and Portugal over wages; protests in Iran continue over poor pensions, wages and working conditions; Ghana's judicial workers begin indefinite walkout over non-payment of allowances Labour Party-run Birmingham Council, covering a population of over 1 million, is imposing £300 million in cuts, and must sell off a staggering £1.25 billion of historic assets, land and property to repay a government bailout loan.
