Ever since the beginning of the pandemic, the focus of the American ruling elite has been to use the pandemic to transfer massive amounts of money to the financial oligarchy. SVB was the sixteenth largest bank in the US and heavily integrated into Silicon Valley high-tech, serving around half of all new tech start-ups funded by venture capital investors. Testifying before the Senate Intelligence committee, Avril Haines confirmed that Biden was stating the official government position last year when he pledged to go to war with China over Taiwan. The German trade union Verdi will do anything to prevent a strike by postal workers, and so is opposing 90,000 of its own members and siding with management who have just celebrated making record profits. The one-day stoppage was to take place alongside a strike of another 20,000 RMT members at 14 train operating companies in the Rail Delivery Group. The NDP's trumpeting of the lurid, unsubstantiated claims of Chinese interference have emboldened the Conservatives' newly-minted, far-right leader, Pierre Poilievre, in his denunciations of Liberal government "collusion" with China and his portrayal of Trudeau as semi-treasonous. Public comments by the former US ambassador Scott Brown point to growing pressure on the New Zealand government to decisively align with US war plans against China. According to a reports from workers in Dry Ridge, Kentucky, workers are being fired at the Dana plant "left and right," just like in Toledo, Ohio. An Oakland warehouse worker was killed and another was injured on the job early Friday morning after the roof collapsed during the pounding storm. Texas has sent five condemned prisoners to their deaths so far in 2023, including two mentally impaired men over the past week. Labor, the Coalition and the Greens are all responsible for the murderous "let it rip" COVID-19 policy that has led to more than 20,000 excess deaths. The Sri Lankan unions' actions are restricted to opposing the government's income tax hikes and fail to raise the host of other savage social attacks being unleashed by the government on the IMF's orders. The quick judgement against Samantha is a stark contrast with the failure to prosecute anyone associated with the poisoning of Flint's water in 2014. Even as Pakistan's government implements a brutal regime of IMF-dictated austerity measures, the US-dominated international lender is pushing for even more sweeping "reforms" from Islamabad before allowing it access to a previously agreed tranche of $1.1billion from its 2019 loan. Parents and educators are outraged that children and school workers were exposed to cancer-causing asbestos for two years.
