Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. The political explosion in Israel is another expression of a widening global revolutionary crisis of capitalism. Worker delegates at the meeting described harrowing conditions at their workplaces, recounted the deadly and ongoing impact of COVID-19, denounced the indifference and complicity of the pro-corporate UAW bureaucracy, and spoke passionately in support of the construction of a worldwide movement of the working class. The convention takes place amid an unprecedented crisis in the UAW bureaucracy and after the new president, Shawn Fain, has denounced "unreasonably high bargaining or organizing expectations." A political movement must be built among masses of rank-and-file workers and youth, independent of the union bureaucracies, to bring down Macron. The EVG rail workers' union has called the strike in response to the widespread willingness of workers to fight, who, in view of skyrocketing prices, are not willing to accept further cuts in real wages. In this interview, Tynisa Williams, former teacher in Montgomery, Alabama, describes the experience of being forced to teach in-person in the fall of 2020 and winter of 2021. She and her coworkers waged a courageous struggle to stop the deadly return to in-person learning that cost the lives of eight educators in the district.
