The imperialist offensive to erase 20th‑century social gains can be stopped only through the independent mobilization of the working class across the Americas. The only country that New Delhi has condemned is Iran, for daring to defend itself. Thousands of meatpackers, many facing deportation threats, are striking against low wages, unsafe conditions and union betrayal at the nation's largest beef facility. Van Sant has said the story interested him because it echoes today's anger at corporate greed and financial institutions. BP confirmed it intends to continue to operate the largest refinery in the Midwest, producing 440,000 barrels daily of gasoline, diesel and jet fuel. The union halted the struggle at its strongest point, isolating workers and paving the way for concessions on wages and staffing. The election underscores the absence of any alternative for working people within the existing political establishment. Police in Queensland last week arrested two participants in a Students for Palestine rally for saying or displaying the anti-genocide slogan "from the river to the sea." The TA (tentative agreement) is intended to cut off the growing movement of the working class and remove tens of thousands of University of California workers from the struggle. The referendum exploits popular anger at a class-biased justice system to dismantle democratic safeguards and prepare for future social conflict. The overriding impression from Fed chair Jerome Powell is that the central bank is like an animal trapped in the headlights of a massive truck hurtling towards it, not knowing which way to turn. More than a dozen critical statements, Perspectives, and World Socialist Web Site articles on the criminal US-Israeli war on Iran war and how to stop it are now available in Farsi, the mother-tongue of approximately two-thirds of the Iranian people. Dissanayake's comments have once again exposed the government's phony posturing of "neutrality" over the illegal US-Israel war against Iran. While "condemning" the criminal US-Israeli war targeting Iran, the NDP and its trade union sponsors have conspicuously failed to call for any working class action against it. The zig zags of the PSOE-Sumar government reflect the imperialist interests of the Spanish bourgeoisie.
