Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. Trump, who pledged to rule as a "dictator on day one," acknowledges neither international law nor the American Constitution and asserts his right to kill anyone, anywhere, whenever he feels like it. In line with deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller's demand for 3,000 daily arrests, border police and federal agents are detaining and disappearing immigrant and US citizen workers alike. The Trump administration is seeking to deport Hayam El Gamal and her children in "kin punishment" for the alleged crimes of her husband, accused of firebombing protesters demanding the release of Israeli hostages. The principled opposition of the SEG, which gives conscious political expression to the mass opposition of workers and youth around the world to imperialist-Zionist aggression, stands in stark contrast to the hypocritical attitude of the pro-imperialist capitalist political establishment in Turkey. The mass "Red Line" demonstration at The Hague on Sunday was the second of its kind within a month, marking a growing wave of popular opposition to the genocide in Gaza. The turnout was large for a rally held on a weekday morning, fuelled by anger against the genocide in Palestine and the escalating US-Israel war in Iran--both supported by the major European imperialist powers including the Starmer Labour government. The new holiday aims at nothing less than the ideological entrenchment of the military within society—in preparation for new imperialist wars and the suppression of growing social unrest at home. On the sidelines of the G7 summit in Canada, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz endorsed Israel's attack on Iran in an interview with public broadcaster ZDF. He said, "I can only say that I have the utmost respect for the Israeli army and the Israeli leadership for having had the courage to do this." Ó hAnnaidh, who is being prosecuted under terrorism legislation, appeared in court in London Wednesday morning as protesters gathered outside. These DOJ actions follow Secretary of State Marco Rubio's May 28 threat to "aggressively revoke visas" for Chinese international students. Fain's video is, for all intents and purposes, the response of the bureaucracy to the mass protests last weekend. In the emerging showdown between the working class and Trump, the bureaucracy is lining up against workers on the other side of the barricade. The Jungle takes on renewed importance today with rising levels of workplace death and injury—and amidst workers' fightback for independent control of workplace safety through the Ronald Adams campaign and the International Workers Alliance of Rank-and-File Committees (IWA-RFC). While the word was not mentioned, stagflation—the combination of rising prices and a slowing economy—is of increasing concern. The tentative agreement amounts to a calculated maneuver by the capitalist state, in collusion with the pro-corporate union bureaucracy, to suppress the growing militancy of the working class and impose austerity in the name of "budget stability." The redundancies are coupled with major curriculum changes, leaving substantially reduced options for students, in line with Labor's restructuring of universities to meet "national priorities." The honour, to be conferred by King Charles III, is a badge of shame for services rendered to the political establishment.
