Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. The unhinged language in Trump's social media posting amounts to the deliberate targeting of his political opponents for violence and repression. On Sunday, US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, "IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON … Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!" A young blog writer was questioned, detained and deported at Los Angeles airport because of his political opinions and articles last year on anti-Gaza genocide protests at New York's Columbia University. The German government's support for Israel's assault on Iran shows that it is willing to stop at nothing in the pursuit of its geopolitical interests. The background to such horrific incidents is the enormous brutalization of society and the promotion of war and violence. According to a report issued by the European Central Bank, central banks have "continued to buy gold at a record pace." Homes were completely destroyed and water could be seen flowing over the tops of cars that were abandoned as people climbed trees or the sides of hills to get out of the water's way. The strike is against an "Integration Plan" which would fire the workers and rehire them for significantly less take-home pay. As millions of people were protesting the ongoing deportation operation, immigration thugs, backed by a helicopter, targeted the popular Latino swap meet in Santa Fe Springs. If two more executions proceed as planned before the end of June, the same number will have taken place in the first half of 2025 as in all of 2024. The mass protests sparked by the police murder of Kenyan blogger Albert Ojwang expose the class nature of police violence, the role of the capitalist state, and the need for the international working class to unite against repression and inequality. Twenty-six Alton Estate workers have been indicted under the country's Penal Code and, if convicted, could be sentenced to seven years of harsh imprisonment and heavy fines. A one-week strike by 2,400 subway and bus maintenance workers wound up June 17, as workers continue to resist management demands for more subcontracting of work. The SEP was attacked and forced out of a protest by the Black People's Union for exposing the class roots of state violence and advancing a socialist perspective. Current and former staff at the Noguchi Museum in New York City have issued a call for a boycott of the museum because of its attacks on workers' democratic rights. The tens of billions in additional military spending will quickly translate into massive social spending cuts.
