Hello, This week, mega-billionaire Jeff Bezos dropped the pretense of journalistic independence at the Washington Post, which he bought in 2013. Bezos has ordered the Post's editorial pages to serve as a mouthpiece for the agenda of Trump and the oligarchy, championing "free markets" (meaning, the domination of life by the capitalist ruling class) and "personal liberties" (meaning, the destruction of the democratic rights of working people in favor of the "liberties" of oligarchs like Bezos, Trump and Elon Musk). This is part of a broader shift. The corporate media is falling in line with the most reactionary elements of the ruling class. MSNBC is purging liberal pundits, the White House is handpicking the press pool from far-right and fascist media outlets, and other major news publications are normalizing Trump's authoritarian rule.
