Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. While the full details are still emerging, the disaster, the political infighting and cover-up which have followed it already expose and intersect with a colossal political crisis and instability in the United States. Life expectancy in Gaza has plunged by nearly 50 percent in the first year of the Israeli genocide in the besieged enclave, a study published in The Lancet has found. The International Youth and Students for Social Equality (IYSSE) at UM denounces the ban on Students Allied for Freedom and Equality, the local chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine, and demands that it be immediately lifted and SAFE be allowed to function freely as a student organization on campus. Having twice voted with the Alternative for Germany (AfD) in favor of a brutal policy of sealing the borders against refugees, the conservative Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) and Free Democratic Party (FDP) parliamentary groups in the Bundestag are prepared to accept the far-right party as a government partner. The suffocation, chaining and beating of the Brazilian immigrants is comparable to treatment previously meted out during Washington's "war on terror." The last place the tech giants expected any competition to emerge from was China, because US capitalism was the great innovator and China a mere imitator. "When it comes to people coming together in India, and really everywhere, the different cultures, languages and identities often come in the way of that unity." The Albanese government, like its counterparts in Washington and internationally, is seeking to demonise, outlaw and persecute opponents of the ongoing US-backed Israeli barbarism in the Middle East. Right-wing politicians, Zionists and media commentators have seized on the PSNA's misguided protest stunts in order to delegitimise opposition to the Gaza genocide. Since the Islamist HTS militia seized power in Syria, reports of excessive violence and executions of members of religious minorities have increased. The strike, the largest so far during the new Trump administration, must become part of a broader working class movement against dictatorship and the attack on immigrants. Postal workers should have no illusions that the commission headed by seasoned federal arbitrator William Kaplan will produce anything but a blueprint for the evisceration of their jobs and working conditions. BNSF, one of the six Class I freight rail carriers, has unilaterally amended its already hated attendance policy to further dictate the schedules of train operators, incentivize overwork, and more easily terminate workers. The Labor government is seeking to impose budget cuts and further narrow the curriculum in line with big-business demands for a pliant and readily employable youth workforce. India: Tamil Nadu public transport workers hold state-wide protest; Bangladeshi tannery workers strike over poverty wages; Australia: Dnata ground workers walkout for higher pay at four airports; New South Wales Snowy Hydro workers ban work in dangerous tunnels Princes' threat to impose a de facto pay cut or transfer production is a confirmation of the warnings made by the World Socialist Web Site. Workers should form a rank and file committee and mobilise internationally.
