Dear reader, Since the start of this year, millions of French workers and youth have mounted a series of mass struggles against the despised "president of the rich" Emmanuel Macron and his efforts to impose deeply unpopular pension reforms. WSWS reporters have intervened at these mass rallies to provide political perspective and leadership to the unfolding revolutionary movement. Please donate as much as you can to help us deepen this work and reach broader layers of French workers and youth. |
The WSWS is the only socialist outlet which is actively campaigning for the bringing down of the Macron government. In a statement published last week, after Macron dictatorially implemented the pension reform, we wrote, "The direction of the class struggle inescapably points to this: Macron must go, and the French executive presidency with its vast anti-democratic powers must be abolished. While struggling to bring down Macron, moreover, the working class must fight to develop rank-and-file committees of action, to lay the basis for what will replace his regime." The class struggle in France is directly bound up with the US-NATO war against Russia in Ukraine. After declaring in January that "there are no more peace dividends," Macron rushed through the pension reforms. All social spending will now be funneled to France's military machine, whose budget is slated to rise to €400 billion by 2030. Only the WSWS is drawing these connections and fighting to build a mass socialist, anti-war movement in the French and international working class. We call upon all of our readers to give your financial support to this life-and-death struggle today. |
