Trump's plan to ethnically cleanse Gaza marks the open embrace of colonialism and genocide by the imperialist powers. Thousands of people across the US demonstrated on Wednesday against the assault on immigrants and Trump's moves to establish a presidential dictatorship. Canadian Labour Congress President Bea Bruske and the heads of its major member unions met Sunday with strikebreaker-in-chief Steven MacKinnon, the Labour Minister in Trudeau's Liberal government, to plot how they can assists Canadian big business in its reactionary tariff war with Washington. While Trump has not yet specifically targeted imports from Australia, his offensive has profoundly destabilising economic and political implications, with Australia no exception. Erdoğan's government has stepped up its crackdown on political parties including those in parliament, the media and more broadly, while the Republican People's Party (CHP) has responded by calling for early elections. The DSA proposals to the City Council are a cynical ploy to immobilize genuine working class discontent and channel it behind the dead-end politics of the Democratic Party. The border crackdown is aimed at scapegoating migrants for the devastating effects of Milei's policies and provoking US-backed confrontations with neighboring countries.
