Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. Amid new whistleblower revelations of Boeing's systematic sacrifice of passenger safety to boost profits, the Democratic-controlled Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations held a hearing Tuesday aimed at rehabilitating the mega-corporation and military contractor. Following Israel's assassination of a senior Hezbollah commander and a retaliatory rocket barrage fired on northern Israel, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) released a statement Tuesday declaring that operational plans for a war in Lebanon have been approved. "The imprisonment of Bogdan and the banning of the WSWS reveals the outrightly anti-democratic nature of the governments which pursue and support this war." Despite repeated requests, the organizers of the "Abandon Biden" town hall refused to include Socialist Equality Party presidential candidate Joseph Kishore. President Biden announced from the White House on Tuesday a "Keep Families Together" program that permits undocumented immigrants who have been in the US for 10 years and are married to a US citizen to apply for lawful permanent residency. Bowman's own criticisms of Israel are thoroughly insincere and hypocritical. A few years ago he voted for US funding of the Iron Dome, the air defense system employed by Israel. "We're standing to fight for a different, socialist strategy—one that is based on mobilising the international working class in a struggle against war and the imperialist powers." Following Monday's hustings event in Camden, London, addressed by SEP candidate Tom Scripps, the WSWS spoke to a member of the audience, Vilma. While Trudeau tries to muster support for an escalation of the US/NATO-instigated Ukraine war with spurious claims that Russia is committing genocide, he has refused to demand that Israel immediately halt its relentless bombardment and starvation of the people of Gaza. The main purpose of the government's plans for conscription lies in creating the structures to be able to call up hundreds of thousands of soldiers and reservists as cannon fodder. The government of President Javier Milei is resorting increasingly to open repression to impose the diktats of the IMF and big business. The public debt of less developed countries has reached $29 trillion and is rising rapidly exacerbated by "inequality in the international financial architecture." The appointment is an indication that UCLA intends to escalate attacks on campus protests against the US-backed genocide in Gaza. With the merger, Amazon workers will now be directly confronting a Teamsters apparatus that is helping enforce mass automation and layoffs, including at one of Amazon's main competitors, UPS. This budget further exposes the claims of the Labor and trade union officials and their supporters that workers could reverse the decades-long assault on living conditions by returning Labor governments to office. Political turmoil is gripping the south Caucasus nation of Armenia, as Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan moves the country ever-closer to Washington and NATO.
