Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. At this critical juncture, it is urgently necessary to unite the fight against war with the struggle to free Julian Assange. When the number of dead, missing, and wounded are added up, the figure comes to over 100,000, or four percent of the population of Gaza. Sanders's reputation as a "left" and his ability to act as a shield and apologist for the Democratic Party has been massively discredited by his pro-Israeli stand. The World Socialist Web Site recently spoke with health care expert and data analyst Greg Travis who has been maintaining the only COVID-19 excess death tracker for the US and documenting his findings through his social media. Larry Porter called for rejection of the Democratic Party and the mobilization of the working class to defend the Palestinian people. "This is an attack on anybody who's trying to fight for the rights of oppressed groups in the United States and abroad." The interests of workers were not on the ballot, with the election limited to which faction of the bureaucracy gets to continue profiteering from dues money. The pseudo-left tendencies within and around the Left Party are reacting to the mass demonstrations against the neo-fascist Alternative for Germany (AfD) and the increase in strikes and protests here and internationally with a further shift to the right. Five hundred chronically underpaid support workers at armed forces bases and installations in Ontario and Quebec began a strike last month to press for a significant wage increase, job security and a nationwide equitable pay grid. Amid an ongoing cost-of-living crisis and a global upsurge of strikes and protests, Labor is seeking to strengthen the grip of the corporatised unions and industrial courts over the country's most oppressed workers. No doubt there were many people opposed to the contract and who wanted to continue the strike who voted "yes" or abstained, since the ballot stated a "no" vote meant accepting terms imposed by management. Irrespective of their final form, the government's online media laws are deeply anti-democratic and are aimed against any mass movement of workers, youth and the rural masses. Rail workers in Argentina plan to strike Wednesday against austerity while 273 workers at the Marathon refinery in Detroit have voted overwhelmingly in favor of strike. "What's happening in Gaza is so hard and so sad, because many people and many kids are getting killed. We have to stop these things, we have to stand with the people of Gaza." Peters' two trips to the Pacific since taking office are a further move to pressure the tiny island states behind the US-led war drive against China. The movie has a sharp, amusing bent when it criticizes such legitimate targets as fake "gangsta" culture, but, in the end, it falls back all too lazily on racialist cliches. World Socialist Web Site reporters spoke to some of the demonstrators attending the 250,000 strong protest in London, UK on Saturday against Israel's genocidal onslaught on Gaza.
