On Monday, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced the formation of Operation Prosperity Guardian, a naval operation targeting the Houthi rebels in Yemen and threatening Iran. By a "permanent ceasefire," the two foreign ministers mean a peace on the bones of the Palestinians, a truce in the cemetery. Since the funding bill was first introduced in October, President Joe Biden has repeatedly called on Congress to pass his request, warning that the funds are imperative for Ukraine, and more broadly, for US national security. The far-right political conference featured dozens of Republican politicians, right-wing commentators, and other fascists, virtually all of whom embraced Trump's "stolen election," the antisemitic "Great Replacement Theory" and the genocide in Gaza. The purported chant was used by supporters of Israel to conflate all opposition to Zionist war crimes with antisemitism. But two months on, there is no evidence the chant was made. The meeting will discuss the need for a political struggle against the Labor government, which has backed the genocide, and the entire capitalist system that is responsible. Nearly half a trillion dollars was paid into the coffers of the banks and financial institutions, paid for by cuts in health, education and other vital facilities. Workers in Quebec and the rest of Canada have no interest in being used as cannon fodder to strengthen corporate Canada's position against its rivals on the global stage.
