Well aware of the growing anger among workers over being kept in the dark, local UAW officials have released a series of "bargaining updates" since Monday, while concealing the real content of their discussions with management. NDIS Minister Bill Shorten outlined measures to block most children from the NDIS, and to use "assessors" to deny access to many adult applicants as well. The Amalgamated Transit Union has closed ranks with the transit system management to oppose any movement of the workers within it. A much loved poet, novelist and musician, Zephaniah remained true to the idealistic and angry concerns of his youth, opposing empire and all forms of oppression. Weingarten is reacting to popular outrage at the genocide with a tactical adaptation, pretending to advocate for "peace" in order to prevent this opposition from escaping the control of the political establishment. The wildcat strike by hundreds of textile workers in Şanlıurfa in south-eastern Turkey has entered its third week, in defiance of the trade union apparatus, company threats and military police violence.
