The United Auto Workers' endorsement of Trump's auto tariffs amounts to a declaration of support for world war. US President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance doubled down Thursday and Friday on their threats to annex Greenland, which Trump previously threatened to conquer by force. The US Secretary of Defense's press conference in Manila is indicative of the openly aggressive face of US imperialism under Trump. He spoke of "preparing for war" and "war plans." The new TRO motion lays bare the government's efforts to criminalize pro-Palestinian speech and carry out retaliatory arrests under the pretext of two executive orders signed by President Trump. Why didn't the Academy strenuously come to Ballal's defense in its first public response to the events? More than 700 people have been killed and at least 1,670 injured, but the death toll could rise into the thousands as rescue operations get underway in Myanmar, where the quake was centred. As part of their commemoration of the five-year anniversary of the pandemic, the Times aired a special episode of their podcast The Daily titled, "Were the COVID lockdowns worth it?" to which they answer definitively "No." The hearing summoned executives from both NPR and PBS to be subjected to fascist lies and conspiracy theories. The Department of Health and Human Services and its secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced a program of job cuts and agency reorganization aimed at dismantling what remains of the public health infrastructure in the US. While this latest attack on federal workers portends the destruction of previously won protections and hundreds of thousands of layoffs, the union bureaucracy, lined up with the Democratic Party, is proposing no strategy for victory. As the wave of unlawful arrests and detentions launched by the government to suppress mass protests continues, videos and testimonies of brutal police violence and torture are emerging. Booker Omole's outburst reveals critical questioning among CPM-K members, particularly youth, who are asking questions about perspective, programme and leadership. The suffering Tamil masses cannot achieve justice or win their democratic rights through the JVP/NPP government or any other capitalist regime. In just one day, three Italian workers lost their lives in horrific accidents that underscore the criminal negligence of corporate interests and the political establishment in Italy. After four and a half months of constant protests, the Serbian capital Belgrade recently witnessed the biggest demonstration since the breakup of Yugoslavia more than 30 years ago. Some 16,000 workers at public transit operator BVG took limited strike action March 26-28 in support of their demand for a wage increase of €750 per month, while the Verdi union was entering closed-door arbitration with the employers, blocking any further strikes, despite mass support for all-out action. São Paulo teachers are fighting not only against the local allies of the fascist ex-president Bolsonaro, but also against the unions that have isolated and betrayed their struggles.
