Hello,
The kidnapping of Tufts University student Rumeysa Ozturk by unidentified immigration agents Tuesday night marks another chilling escalation in the Trump administration's assault on democratic rights. Thousands protested in her defense yesterday in Massachusetts, demanding her immediate release after she was illegally detained and secretly flown to an immigration prison in Louisiana in defiance of a federal judge's orders.
Ozturk's persecution is part of a broader crackdown.
The Trump administration is using police state methods to target students and workers exercising their democratic rights to protest the genocide in Gaza and oppose the policies of the oligarchy.
These attacks include the retaliatory attempt to deport Cornell PhD student Momodou Taal, who filed a lawsuit against Trump's unconstitutional executive orders targeting political speech.
Today at 3 p.m. EDT, join the WSWS for an urgent and critical online meeting to learn how to fight to defend democratic rights in the face of the Trump administration's rapid moves to establish a presidential dictatorship.
