Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. This speech was delivered by Socialist Equality Party (US) National Secretary Joseph Kishore Thursday at Wayne State University during a rally jointly sponsored by the International Youth and Students for Social Equality and Students for Justice in Palestine. The brutal slaughter of thousands of civilians is looming in Gaza City, which the Israeli military claims to have encircled as part of its ground offensive. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu once again ruled out supplying fuel to Gaza, all but guaranteeing the total collapse of health care services in the enclave. This genocidal war against civilians in Gaza is an escalation of policies pursued by the Israeli bourgeoisie for decades, aimed at dispossessing the Palestinian people of their lands, property and homes, about which the ruling elite assumes a collective historical amnesia. Hundreds of people, including many students, participated in the rally, which called for the unity of the working class around the world to put a stop to the genocide. At a livestream event Thursday night, UAW President Shawn Fain and Vice President Rich Boyer attempted to pitch the UAW's latest "historic agreement." The decision to target 19 facilities for closure is buried in a letter to UAW Vice President Richer Boyer with the subject "Plant Closure" in the contract book. Posts on Facebook reported the sellout Ford agreement passed by a margin of 81 percent in an election where members were denied adequate time to review the contract and ask questions. The long list of victims of the genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza include freedom of expression and the right to demonstrate in Germany. The sacking of Udi Raz is yet another example of the systematic campaign by the German government, media and politicians, assisted by Israeli surrogates, directed against Jewish opponents of the genocidal policy in Gaza being carried out by the Netanyahu regime. The program focused on the airborne transmission of COVID-19, but stopped well short of any examination of the political reasons why this fact was largely suppressed. Far from offering any insight into Trotsky's immense legacy, the meeting represented a second political assassination of the great Russian revolutionary. Following the rejection of its appeal to the Michigan Supreme Court, state prosecutors declared an end to the effort to hold former Governor Rick Snyder and others to account for the lead poisoning of the working class city of 100,000. The case is a major legal battleground for Republican lawmakers around the country as they eye similar bans on interstate travel for abortions. Two universities, one in Sydney and the other in Melbourne, this week sought to shut down any opposition to the unfolding mass murder of Palestinians in Gaza. Hall's factual editing of articles about the US-NATO proxy war with Russia in Ukraine, including references to fascists in the Ukrainian military, triggered a hysterical response that destroyed his career. The rising tide of protests is another powerful expression of the seething anger of Sri Lankan workers against the Wickremesinghe government's IMF-dictated attack on social conditions and democratic rights. Jewish-Australians organised demonstrations yesterday and Wednesday to oppose both Israeli war crimes in Gaza and the West Bank and the federal Labor government's complicity in the accelerating genocide. The massive concrete and steel structure is part of the Pontiki mining complex owned by Oklahoma-based Alliance Resource Partners L.P. (ARLP), the second-largest coal producer in the United States. Wildcat strike by postal workers in Serbia over pay and conditions condemned by union spreads nationwide; General strike call in occupied West Bank over Israeli army killings as Gaza genocide continues; South African bus drivers at state owned NTI strike over non-payment of wages for up to four months The increasingly precarious conditions for the country's most vulnerable is underscored by the fact that children comprise over a third of all food bank recipients despite representing only 20 percent of the population. The education catastrophe affecting the impoverished indigenous population is inextricably linked to the police-state measures imposed in the territory via the 2007 Northern Territory National Emergency Response.
