Blinken's visit carries with it enormous political, legal and historical significance. A top representative of the American government was briefed on the plan of mass extermination and proceeded to give what amounted to an unconditional and blanket endorsement of Israeli policy. In rejecting the deal, workers have dealt a powerful blow not just to Boeing management, but to the IAM bureaucracy and, above all, to US imperialism and the pro-corporate political establishment. As at Boeing, where workers rejected a sellout Wednesday, this deal was produced through government mediation, as Washington moves to shut down strikes jeopardizing war production. The Starmer government would prefer a Harris victory. But it also desperately needs to keep Trump sweet to prepare the close relations it would seek with a Republican presidency. The message from the conference was clear: the Left Party continues to fully support the government's pro-war policy and is prepared to implement it should it re-enter the federal parliament. Salmond's career as the Scottish National Party's leading representative and the SNP's record in government serve as devastating refutations of its "progressive" claims and the fatuous assertions of the pseudo-left that Scottish separatism is anti-imperialist and a route to socialism. Jayasekara recalled how Wicks joined a precocious and politically far-sighted group of young revolutionaries who opposed the LSSP's great betrayal of 1964 and, under the ICFI's guidance, sought to lay bare its roots in Pabloite opportunism. CUPW's record of isolating postal workers from the rest of the working class and sabotaging their struggles the moment they develop into a direct political confrontation with the government underscores that to take a single step forward in their contract struggle, postal workers must break politically and organizationally from the union bureaucracy's suffocating straitjacket. "This is a way of stopping dissenting voices. This is a threat. It can apply to any union who steps out of line." The purchase, unveiled in Washington, is transparently aimed at preparing the navy to conduct offensive operations against China throughout the Indo-Pacific. This is the reality of the world for Graham—not class conflict but how to get along in the system as it is. His references to contested political history are all the more offensive because he is so supine about how things are.
