The Biden administration is advancing the concept that "democracy" is a government that does whatever it wants, in which elections are entirely a formality whose only aim is to provide a fig leaf of legitimacy to policies opposed by the vast majority of the population. The GBU-39 small diameter bombs (SDB) is manufactured by Boeing, but components were linked via a serial number to Woodward HRT, according to the Washington Post. Since the outset of the mass protests in London, which have collectively mobilised over 4 million people in 13 demonstrations against Israel's genocide, right-wing and fascistic forces have insisted that more severe repression must be meted out, with police ludicrously accused of pro-Palestinian bias. Canadian imperialism has maintained a decades-long relationship with far-right Ukrainian nationalists, including the political descendants of Nazi collaborators during World War II. It is these forces that make up the backbone of the Ukrainian regime that is persecuting comrade Bogdan. "The imprisonment of socialist organiser Bogdan Syrotiuk is an affront of democratic rights and one of several worrying examples of political repression against young people campaigning for a genuine peace across the world." This is a crisis that extends across the entire political establishment, marked by the role of the Democratic Party as the full accomplice in the onslaught on the democratic and social rights of the working class. The Texas Republican Party adopted a platform at its biannual convention in San Antonio last week that reveals the rapid descent of the party headed by Donald Trump into a fascist political organization based on Christian nationalism. The lack of aid, technical experts and heavy machinery reaching the stricken village of Yambali is reflected in widely varying estimates of the number of dead, injured and displaced. The workers' action, in response to one of the great lies of the Israeli and Biden administrations and their apologists, is a significant step. Recent weeks have seen mass protests over price rises in Pakistan-held Kashmir and a countywide agitation by farmers. The Health Workers Rank-and-File Committee hails the decision of Victorian nurses and midwives to stand up to the ANMF leadership and reject the wage-cut deal. But we warn that this is only the first step. The railroad company that poisoned this Eastern Ohio community walks away with a slap on the wrist, while residents in this and surrounding communities face long-term health problems and concerns. Rank-and-file committees must form the basis for teachers to link up with the growing movement against war, and with other educators facing massive cuts to school budgets.
