If it were not for the WSWS, you also wouldn't know how the UAW bureaucracy used starvation tactics against Dakkota workers (withholding strike pay for two weeks) and intimidation (threatening workers with a lockout and the loss of all jobs), allowed workers who crossed the picket line to vote on the final contract, or any of the other scabbing techniques employed by the union to force the workers to agree to a poverty wage contract.
This is what the Dakkota Workers Rank-and-File Committee Network had to say at the end of the strike: "We wish to express our appreciation to the World Socialist Web Site, which did more to inform us in a single article than the UAW did throughout the whole process. The WSWS was the only publication that reported truthful information about our strike, counteracting the near-total blackout by the media and the UAW."
In fact, the WSWS published 19 articles between August 7 and September 7, which included interviews with dozens of Dakkota workers, linking this struggle to the nearby Ford Chicago workers who were forced by the company and the union to handle scab parts. The WSWS not only reported on the strike; it also supported the establishment of the Dakkota Workers Rank-and-File Committee.
We can't carry out this work without your support. We are asking you today to make the most generous donation you can and if possible, to make that a monthly donation to support and expand this type of coverage on the WSWS.
Fraternally,
The World Socialist Web Site
