Despite the fact that a strike or lockout cannot legally go into effect until the middle of next week, Air Canada announced that it would begin winding down its operations on Friday, putting a de facto lockout into gradual effect over the coming days to increase pressure on the government to take action against the pilots. All this is handmade for a Labour government ready to wield the knife, under the cover of "reform".
