Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. Israel's terrorist attack marks a new stage in the criminalization of imperialist foreign policy, setting a precedent for the legitimization of terrorist attacks on both political leaders and the broader civilian population. While Trump has been the target of at least two assassination attempts, a July 13 sniper attack in Pennsylvania and a September 15 ambush at his Florida golf course, the threats of violence have been largely aimed at his Democratic opponents, and at election officials in the seven states most critical to victory in the Electoral College. The move was significant given that in July Powell said the Fed was not even considering a 50 basis point reduction. The demands of Boeing workers—at least a 40 percent raise to combat inflation, maintaining their yearly bonus, improved healthcare and the restoration of pensions—echo among all workers who have faced decades of slashed wages and declining living standards. On Sunday, September 22, at 2:00 p.m. Pacific/5:00 p.m. Eastern, the Boeing Workers Rank-and-File Committee is holding an online meeting to mobilize the broadest support in the working class for the 33,000 striking Boeing machinists. The strike was called after the extension expired on September 5 and after workers voted down two tentative agreements brought by the United Auto Workers. The SEP fights for a socialist alternative against imperialist war, austerity and the slashing of basic social rights, and the preparations by the ruling class for dictatorial forms of rule. Tens of thousands of workers marched in the Belgian capital against Audi's plans to shutter plants in Belgium as carmaker Volkswagen launches a global assault on jobs. On Monday, a team from the World Socialist Web Site spoke to auto workers at Volkswagen's largest German plant, in Wolfsburg. Labour has not only continued to fully back Israel's genocide but confirmed its role as a right-wing government of savage austerity, anti-migrant measures, attacks on democratic rights and advocating for the use of long-range NATO missiles that would transform the proxy war in Ukraine into a direct war with Russia. As millions of students are re-entering their classrooms in schools, colleges and university campuses across the UK, a blunt warning must be issued: The threat of world war and fascism is greater today than at any point since the 1930s. The open letter is diplomatic in some of its language, but the material it presents, most of which has not been mentioned in the press coverage of the protest, is devastating enough. The debate in Australian ruling circles over AUKUS reflects the imminent threat of a US-led war against China in the Indo-Pacific. Neither the ousted CFMEU bureaucracy, nor the leadership of the other building unions, has a perspective through which workers can take forward their struggle against Labor's anti-democratic administration process. The longstanding ties of Podemos and Sumar with German middle class politicians now developing explicity xenophobic policies exposes their own reactionary, nationalist politics.
