The anti-immigrant riots that erupted this week in cities across the UK represent the most concerted efforts since the 1930s to develop a fascist movement in Britain. US generals tour Middle East to prepare military escalation against Iran after Haniyeh assassination As it supports Israel's genocide in Gaza and targeted assassinations, Washington's claim that its military escalation in the Middle East is for defensive purposes is a flagrant lie. Organisers doubled down on their efforts to channel anti-genocide and anti-war sentiment into the dead end of appeals to the Labour Party to back a ceasefire, end arms sales to Israel and recognize Palestine. WSWS reporters spoke to some of those attending Saturday's national rally against the genocide in Gaza. Despite the cleanup efforts along the Seine, the central issues of a combined sewer system and the mismanagement of utilities under capitalism continue to plague Paris and the competitions held in it. Just two days after indicating rate cuts will start in September, the Fed is being denounced for doing too little too late. The move is a massive attack on press freedom. It aims to strengthen the dictatorial powers of the state apparatus against any genuine--i.e., left-wing--opposition and create yet another precedent for censoring unpopular publications. The media voices that have spearheaded the Quebec establishment's chauvinist anti-immigrant agitation are now openly promoting Marine Le Pen's fascist Rassemblement National. Workers and young people are already paying a heavy price for the Labor government's program of war preparations and the accompanying cuts to living conditions.
