Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. The Biden administration, in alliance with the fascist-led Republican Party, has moved to criminalize political opposition to the Gaza genocide, the greatest war crime of the 21st century. The horrific discovery over the past 72 hours provides further evidence of Israel's imperialist-backed genocide against the Palestinians, which is set to escalate imminently due to the looming assault on the more than 1.5 million Palestinians struggling to survive in Rafah. On Tuesday night, leaders of the student protest at Columbia University revealed that the university administration had threatened in negotiations to deploy the National Guard to crush the encampment. The ACC IYSSE club urges students to support the resolution being put before the Student Government Association defending pro-Palestinian groups and individuals from the bipartisan witch hunt, as part of the beginnings of a political counteroffensive in defense of democratic rights. On Tuesday, the Senate overwhelmingly voted to invoke cloture on the weapons packages for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, as well as Russia-Iran economic sanctions and a TikTok ban. Biden has already promised to sign the legislation once it reaches his desk. The Senate moved a step closer to an official ban of the social media platform TikTok in the US, an attack on free speech and a major step in the preparations for war with China. In arguments Tuesday, the Biden administration argued that a US citizen has no right whatsoever to challenge the denial of her spouse's visa, and that she does not even have a right to be provided with any specific reason why. Ocasio-Cortez, a key political prop of the Biden administration, is emerging as a significant financial prop of the Democratic Party in the 2024 elections. The fascistic policies being rolled out by London are being implemented everywhere by the capitalist class, as they whip up a foul anti-immigration atmosphere the better to pursue policies of austerity and war. We urge postal and logistics workers to attend the next online meeting of the PWRFC on April 28 at 7pm, "Oppose Royal Mail's Assault on the USO! Defeat CWU's Collusion." Yuri Dmitriev's case is important but Gorter's film is confused and superficial and serves to feed into the anti-Russian war propaganda of NATO. In the banning of Russian dancer Maria Khoreva and Korean Kimin Kim, a right-wing mob has effectively been allowed to hijack proceedings of one of New York City's premier cultural institutions on the basis of anti-Russian hysteria. The SEP has received an important initial response, amid widespread hostility towards the major parties and an anti-war politicisation fuelled by outrage over the ongoing US- and Australian-backed Israeli genocide in Gaza. The announcement by car manufacturer Tesla to cut 14,000 jobs worldwide has triggered great unrest among the workforce. Sozialistische Gleichheitspartei leader Uli Rippert spoke with workers outside the Tesla plant near Berlin. An autoworker died after suffering a medical emergency after waiting a half hour for medical help at the Ford Rouge complex outside Detroit. Stellantis laid off 199 workers Monday at Sterling Heights Assenbly and another 57 at the Mack plant in Detroit as it continues its brutal program of job cuts in the wake of the 2023 contract. The pay gap between male and female workers is an integral part of the system of capitalist exploitation that ensures lucrative profits for investors. The CRT's posturing as an "anti-war" tendency is exposed by its unsuccessful attempt to form an election alliance with the pro-war Anticapitalistas party, which helped found Podemos.
