Destroying UNRWA is an explicit goal of Israel's war on Gaza, with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) mounting hundreds of attacks that have killed over 150 of UNRWA's staff and hundreds more civilians sheltering in its facilities. While the announced layoffs are supposedly limited to management staff, the company also eliminated yet another sort shift Tuesday at one of its hubs. The UAW's "stand up" strike had a negligible impact on the automaker which took in more fourth quarter profits compared to last year despite the strike. US imperialism is rapidly and recklessly plunging the Middle East into a region-wide war that together with the US-NATO war against Russia in Ukraine threatens to engulf the world. The callous and inhumane decision to suspend funds for the agency is in keeping with Canadian imperialism's unflinching support for Israel's genocide against the Gaza population. The Israel Defense Forces is obliterating the educational infrastructure in Gaza, while AFT President Weingarten, amid empty calls for a ceasefire, campaigns for the reelection of war criminal Biden and defends Israel's "right" to wage war against the Palestinians. The latest attack has centered around the appointment of Harvard professor Derek Penslar as co-chair in a task force at the university investigating allegations of antisemitism on campus. While the mass turnout reflected a developing political radicalisation, including over the genocide in Gaza, the perspective put forward by speakers and organisers was a bankrupt orientation to the powers-that-be who are responsible for the historic war crimes. Robson told the meeting, "If Royal Mail cannot provide decent jobs or pay for its workforce or deliver a mail service that is fit for purpose, it must be placed into public ownership." The abrupt ending of the strike by the GDL train drivers' union is a blow in the face for all striking rail workers—drivers, train attendants and others. The two leading candidates for president, Claudia Sheinbaum of the ruling Morena Party and Bertha Xóchitl Gálvez of the opposition coalition, offer nothing to the Mexican working class. Intensified exploitation and job losses are hitting foreign workers in Oman, excacerbated by expanding war in the Middle East and Ukraine. Submissions to an inquiry into SafeWork NSW show "dozens of regulatory failures," some resulting in serious injuries and deaths in multiple industries. Protesters denounced the National Party-led government's support for Israel's genocide in Gaza and its decision to assist the US-led bombing of Yemen.
