Hundred of thousands of people joined yesterday's nationwide "Block Everything" protests against the budget crisis and the naming of Sébastien Lecornu as prime minister. Striking workers at Libbey Glass, and workers at the Dana Driveline and Stellantis Jeep plant supported the call for a general strike to oppose Trump's establishment of a dictatorship. Up to 4,000 jobs are being destroyed, along with hundreds of student courses, while the campus trade unions assist Labor's reshaping of tertiary education to satisfy the profit needs of employers and in preparation for war. The move by TFT Global follows GM's announcement last May that it plans to end the third shift at its Oshawa facility as some production of the Chevrolet Silverado is "reshored" to its Fort Wayne, Indiana assembly plant in the wake of US President Trump's tariff policies. The Democratic party establishment that dominates the state government has demanded sharp budget cuts to state agencies and services to deal with the state's operating budget deficit.
