The Labour government is now ramping this up under the cover of the Terrorism Act that suspends democratic rights. Unless workers are mobilized independently in struggle, a censure of Barnier will only intensify behind-the-scenes maneuvers in ruling circles on how to replace him while continuing his policies. Ireland's general election resulted in victory for the ruling parties, amid declining turnout and an ominous international situation. Talks to form a coalition are likely to start immediately and involve Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and third parties.
