The trade union leaderships are desperately attempting to block a unified national movement of the working class to fight the Wickremesinghe government and its IMF austerity measures. Flint, Michigan teachers, living in poverty, outraged over school board's revoking of labor contract The United Teachers of Flint has not called a strike vote, instead calling for closing schools and selling buildings. Dockworkers across Argentina were set to strike February 26 as anti-austerity protests, limited in scope and duration by the trade union bureaucracies, continue.
