Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. Trump's efforts to establish a dictatorship in the United States serves the interests of the financial oligarchy, and that the target of this dictatorship are the workers whose labor creates the oligarchy's wealth. In a massive dragnet operation, hundreds of workers were taken in an immigration raid at the sprawling Hyundai Motor battery plant in Georgia. While presenting their campus alert bill as "protection," California Democrats quietly integrate schools into Trump's mass deportation framework, as they deepen CHP policing powers and enable an escalating authoritarian offensive against workers and youth. Video footage and reports by major news outlets showed the collapse on Friday of the Mushtaha Tower, among the tallest buildings in Gaza City, from three air strikes by Israel Defense Forces, part of the preparation for the final occupation of the largest city in the Gaza Strip. This lecture documents the beginning war on the Trotskyist movement in the USSR in 1928-1932. In this text from 1929, Christian Rakovsky, one of Trotsky's closest friends and allies, describes in detail how the GPU exploited and aggravated this political crisis through its ruthless methods of repression and manipulation. While the US was not named, Chinese President Xi Jinping used the occasion to respond to the Trump administration's unmistakable, accelerating build-up to war with China. Tube and DLR workers have suffered a decade of declining wages and are fighting the consequences of austerity cuts enforced by Transport for London on behalf of successive Conservative and Labour governments. Behind this escalating government crisis lay the demands of Britain's ruling elite that Labour massively escalate its offensive against the working class to tackle rising public debts and create the necessary conditions for imperialism to pursue an agenda of trade and military war. Whether current Labour Party Prime minister Jonas Gahr Støre or Conservative leader Erna Solberg emerges as the next head of government, nothing fundamental will change in the ruling class' policies of war and offloading the costs onto workers. The new munitions factory for Rheinmetall, Germany's largest arms manufacturer, is located on the site where its wartime predecessor murdered hundreds of forced labourers producing weapons for the Third Reich. The European imperialists want to carry through a comprehensive onslaught on the working class to raise the financial resources needed for them to escalate the war with Russia and ruthlessly pursue their own global interests without having to rely on the US. While healthcare workers and journalists provided valuable empirical reports on the ongoing genocide, the political perspective advanced by organizers is a dead-end. In its submission to the court, the administration claimed, following the line of the president's rantings on social media, that disallowing the tariffs could thrust the US "to the brink of economic catastrophe." Labor's bill, personally championed by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, is the most serious attack on the Freedom of Information laws for decades. The decision reflects concerns within the region's business community and political establishment over the impact of the transit system's collapse. As Trump sets up a billionaire's dictatorship in America and the RN courts French business, workers voting for the far right must be warned: they are being played for fools. Around 36,000 healthcare workers struck for two days in opposition to the government's plan to cut wages amid a staffing crisis in hospitals. South Korea: Thousands of Hyundai and GM auto workers strike; Bangladesh police open fire on protesting workers; India: Tamil Nadu transport workers still on strike; Australia: Baggage handlers walk out again at Perth Airport; Queensland public sector trades workers strike for 36-hour week. "There was major pressure on workers from day one at the delivery office. Senior managers and CWU officials descended on the workplace to tell us there was no Plan B."
